India is a democratic socialistic republic constituted for the welfare of its people and is also committed to making working class as bedrock for consolidating the republic. The UT of Jammu and Kashmir as a constituent of republic is committed to the welfare of the working class and to the empowerment of the Labourers to enable them to play their role in the institution building of the UT. It is with these ideals in view that the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has adopted 22 central legislations relating to the Labourers and which take care of regulatory mechanisms for implementation of these laws and social security measures to improve socio-economic conditions of the working class. These welfare measures include Provident fund, Medical insurance, a package of Welfare schemes for building and construction workers, Rehabilitation of Child Labourers and Bonded labourers, concialiation between employees and employres in case of a dispute etc.The UT has also enacted three UT legislations dealing with the welfare of the working class in the UT.

J&K Building & other Construction Workers Welfare Scheme is meant for Construction Workers of District, who are falling within the age group of 18-60 years. The scheme benefits are also available for Building & other construction workers. The object of the scheme is to regulate the employment and conditions of service and to provide safety, health and welfare measures for the Building and other construction workers, which is most vulnerable segment of the second largest unorganized Labour sector in India after agriculture. |
1. To regulate the Employment & Service conditions of BOCW Workers. 2. To provide timely assistance under Educational assistance to the wards of Construction workers. 3. To provide Chronic disease assistance upto Rs/- 1lac for chronic or life consuming disease to the registered construction workers. 4. To provide Death assistance to the dependants of deceased workman @ Rs/-205000. 5. To provide Disability assistance to the workers who sustain injuries on worksites. 6. To provide professional disease assistance to the wards of construction workers who are pursuing the higher studies. |
Any person who is desirous of reaping the benefits under the said scheme need to have following things: 1. Should be in the Age group of 18-60 2. Should be a Building or other Construction worker. 3. Should be possessing a valid Aadhar Card. 4. Should possess a Employment Certificate of 90 days from any Executing agencies. 5. Age certificate (issued by not less tha Asst Surgeon of Govt Hospital)
