Fruit production fetches Rs. 70 cr to Kupwara

The deputy Commissioner Kupwara handed over
Rehbar Taleem appointment orders to 368 unemployed educated youth of the district at a
function held here today. These Rehbar Taleem teachers would be posted in the newly opened
and up-graded schools under SSA, an official spokesman said.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner
exhorted upon the teachers to perform their duty with a sense of responsibility and
devotion as they are the architect of the nation and have significant role in shaping the
destiny of the budding youth. The chief education officer Kupwara was also present on the
occasion.
As a part of observance of world Arbar Day,
the Social Forestry department Kupwara planted 15 saplings of Italian and Kashmiri Deodar
variety in the premises of
DC, Kupwara who was the chief guest on the
occasion said that the Social Forestry has the target of planting 2.48 lakhs sapling s of
fast growing variety during the current plantation season in the district while 1.90 lakhs
saplings were planted last year.
Programme officer ICDS, Kupwara has asked the
candidates of the district who have applied for Angwari worker posts to submit their marks
certificates of the examination passed in the office of their respective ICDS project
officers within two days.
All those candidates who could not appear in
the interview on March 22, 23 & 24 for the posts of Junior Grade Nurse, Sanitary
Inspector, X-ray Asstt. Dental Asstt. Are informed that the interview will be conducted
April 5.
In order to boost cultural & literary
activities, a composite Mushira was organized by the district Information centre, Kupwara
at town hall here. The DC Kupwara was the chief guest on the occasion. Renowned poets from
all over district participated and recited their poetic verses on social, religious, peace
initiative, opening of roads and promotion of cultural-binds. They won Applause from the
audiences.
Speaking on the occasion the DC appreciated
the role of of Information centre and the Director of Information for reviving the
cultural activities in the District. Later the Local Social artists booked by the
information deptt. presented a cultural programme. The district officers and senior
citizens besides newspaper correspondents of the district were present at the function.
The elected members of municipal committee
have been asked to remain present at town hall Kupwara for voting on the said date.
Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives,
Abdul Aziz Zargar reviewed the situation arisen due to recent snowfall in district Kupwara
and assess damage caused to the property in a meeting convened.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara informed that
due to recent snowfall 998 structures including Residential houses, Kothars and cow-sheds
suffered damage in the district and the revenue officials have submitted the report and
the cases have been sent to the higher Authorities for compensation.
Regarding the stock position, disclosed that
4000 quintals of rice, 5600 quintals of atta, besides, 2.28 lakh litres of kerosene oil is
available in the Dist. Moreover essential commodities stock position is sufficient in the
Karnah, Keran, and Machal Area.

The minister for agricultural, A Zargar was
chief guest at the function. He felicitated the elected consular and exhorted upon them
that they should leave no stone unturned in providing basis facilities to the people
adding that the govt. will provide all possible help and financial assistance to the
committee.
Road sector achievements reviewed in Kupwara
Against an allocation of Rs. 13.17 crore, an
amount or Rs. 10 crore stands utilized under R&B sector in Kupwara district unto
ending Feb. 2005.
This was stated at a review meeting of road
& Building Department chaired by D.D.C Janab Abdul Majid Khandy.The meeting was
informed that 65 Km. road length have been black toped and 188 Km brought under WBM, 108
culverts have been constructed. While reviewing achievements registered under agriculture
sector in the District, it was given out that 17,000hectares of land were brought under
paddy and 15000hectares of land under maize, vegetables and pulses.

In a statement the minister has clarified
that assessment would be made of each and every crop in agricultural, horticultural and
other sectors besides property lose which has suffered due to recent snowfall in the
district.
An amount of Rs. 1.40 corer stands incurred
under power sector in Kupwara District so far during the current financial.
This was stated at an officer meeting held
with District Development Commissioner, Ab Majid Khandy In Chair it was given out that under border area
development programme Rs. 90 Lakh and under sate sector Rs. 50 lakh have been utilised for
restoration of power supply including repairs of transformers in the District, 37
transformers of 100 KVA. & 6 transformers of 63 KVA. Have been installed.
The meeting was informed that due heavy
snowfall damages cause to electric gadgets is estimated at Rs. 77 Lakhs.
This was stated an officer meting chaired by
the SDM Karnah. This was also disclosed that effected families of Yaribun, Hajitra were
shifted to safer places and free ration is being provided to these families.
