11.20 crores being spent under BADP in Kupwara.

Under border area development programme , Rs  11.20 crores are being spent on the implementation of various development schemes in Kupwara district during the currant fiscal year o f this , Rs 7 crores stand utilized by November end this year. This was stated at a meeting of district officers convened by the District Development Commissioner here Friday to review achievements registered under this programme in the district. Under power sector Rs 2 crores have been  incurred , by virtue of which 200 power transformers of different capacities have been installed .Under Rural Development sector , Rs  2.53 crores are being expended on the construction of 61 school buildings and 20 go-downs . 54 rural development works have been completed so far. By assistance of Rs 29 lakhs  from NABARD, 10 primary school buildings are under construction in the district.

Arrangement for Municipal elections finalized at Kupwara

Arrangements for free, fair and impartial conduct of municipal elections in Kupwara district were finalized at a meeting of officers chaired by District Election officer, Abdul Majeed Khandy here today. The meeting which was attended by 8 returning and 26 Assistant Returning officers was informed that 4253 electorate will exercise their franchise for Kupwara Municipal Committee while for Handwara Municipal Committee 5653 voters would cast their vote.  Security and other related matters were also discussed in the meeting.

DC Kupwara reviews Eid arrangements

To ensure smooth supply of essential commodities and availability of facilities like drinking Water, power supply, sanitation, etc to the people in Handwara on the eve of Eid-u-Zuha ,a joint Meeting of officers of various departments and representatives of trade unions was held here Today with Assistant commissioner, Revenue in chair .The meeting was informed that essentials like rice , atta, kerosene , sugar,  cooking gas , mutton , Etc would be made available to the consumers at reasonable rates . The checking squads would be mobilized to maintain price line and check black marketing and hoarding.

Kupwara DEO issues Election notification.

According to a notification of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara filling of nomination forms for local body elections has been fixed from Jan. 10 to Jan. 15.The scrutiny of the forms would be conducted on January 18, while the date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on January 20, 2005.The poling would be held on Jan. 29, and the counting would take place on the same day.

 Republic Day arrangements finalized in Kupwara

Arrangements for the Republic Day celebration were finalized here today under the chairmanship of District Dev. Commissioner, Kupwara, A. M. Khandy. The meeting decided that the function will start with the playing of  Shanaiwadan  by the information centre followed by the flag hoisting at 10 A. M. The march past of the contingents of JKP, JKAP, BSF, CRPF and students of various educational institutions. The cultural programme will be presented by the students and the artists of Information department. The Distt. Dev. Comm. Stressed upon the Officers to ensure un-interrupted drinking water and electricity supply. He directed the Medical Officer to ensure the adequate first aid facility at the Venue, besides security arrangements. The DDC also exhorted up the officers to work in unison for the successful celebration of the function.

Republic day celebrated at Kupwara

In Kupwara the main function was held at District Police Lines where the Chief Guest, Minister for Agriculture and Co-operative Mr. Ab. Aziz Zargar unfurled the National flag and took Salute at the March past by the contingents of Jammu And Kashmir Police, JKAP, BSF, Home Guards, CRPF, Fire services and the students of various Educational Institutions.

The DC, SP, Army Officer, District officers and large number of people were present to witness the celebrations. The cultural programme was presented by the school; children’s and artists of the Information Deptt. This was witnessed by the large number of people.

Rs 11000 for tsunami victims

The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Committee, has released an amount of Rs. 11000 towards Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the rehabilitation.

Rs 14.30 crores loans extended in Kupwara

Loans amounting to Rs 14.30 crores have been extended for setting up of different of income generating units under district credit action plan in Kupwara district during current financial year so far . The annual credit plan for the district this year is a whooping Rs 48 crores. This official spokesman said, was stated at lead bank consultative committee meeting held here today with DDC in the chair. It was given out that 454 income generating units have been setup at a cost of Rs 4.25 crores under horticulture sector where Rs 10 crores were utilized to established 833 units under industry and services sectors . The J & K bank and State bank of India have advanced Rs 1.35 crores for PMRY.  As many as 1285 educated unemployed youth have been provided employment under Self Employment scheme.

Training programme for polling staff commences at Kupwara

One day training programme for the polling staff for two Municipal committees of Kupwara district commenced here today under the supervision of District Election Officer, Abdul Majid Khandy.   There are 26 wards for Kupwara & Handwara Municipal bodies. In all 9806 electorate will exercise their franchise for both the Municipal committees. Out of the total 9806 voters, 4795 are female voters. Meanwhile, the election staff has been asked to collect election material from the office of District Election Officer, Kupwara on January 28, 2005 at 11 A. M.

Handwara Councilors administered oath.

The councilors Ab. Ahad Bhat & Masroor Ahmad Banday recently elected for municipal committee Handwara were administered oath by Asstt. Comm. Revenue Handwara. The district Development Commissioner Kupwara Ab. Majid Khandy & Prominent citizens were present on this occasion.

Rs.1.17 Crores spent under Technology Mission Programme

Out of total allocation of Rs. 117.88 lakes an expenditure of Rs. 43.54 lakes have been incurred under centrally sponsored technology mission scheme of integrated Horticulture and Agriculture Development. He was stated in a meeting of District Co-ordination Committee technology mission scheme which was chaired by DC Kupwara , Abdul Majeed Khandy.

It was disclosed that under Horticulture sector 32.52 lacs has been spent and 195 hectare land was covered under plantation of improved varieties, 35 storage tanks, 26 tube wells besides 39 polygreen houses were constructed under the scheme. Under Agriculture sector 11.02 lacs were spent and 79 vegetable demonstration plot were established in the District. The meeting was also informed that technology areas expansion under  high yielding  varieties, providing irrigation infrastructure to farmers of  latest   know how besides employment generation. Mr.Khandy exhorted upon officers to implement the scheme with transparency and strictly follow the guidelines.

Rs 15 crore to be incurred under Rashtriya Sevam Vikas yogna

An expenditure of Rs 15 crores will be incurred under centrally sponsored Rashtriya Sevam vikas yogna during the current financial year. This was discussed in the officers meeting of Agriculture and applied departments held under the chairmanship of the District Development commissioner Kupwara Ab. Majid Khandy.The meeting informed that under Agriculture sector Rs 12.62 lacs will be spent out of which Rs 3 lacks for Vegetable development, 4.25 lacks for agriculture implement. Under Horticulture sector Rs 4 lacks will be incurred, 3.90 lacs for various sericulture schemes & Rs 4 lacs under Sheep Husbandry besides 10 lacs will be spent for establishing units in related department 7 will be released as subsidy component by DRDA. The DC exhorted upon the concerned officers to implement the programme strictly as per guidelines framed.

Rs. 4 Cr. being spent under BADP in Kupwara.

Under Border Area Development Programme, Rs.4crore are being spend in Kupwara district during the current fiscal year. So for,213 rural development works have been completed with a cost of Rs.  2 crores. This was stated in a meeting of Block Development Officers chaired by District Development Commissioner, Abdul Majid Khandy. It was given out that work is in progress on 139 development works under the programme at an expenditure of Rs.1.65 crores. These include 74 school buildings and 20 food godowns.

The District Development Commissioner stressed upon the officers to complete the On-going works by end of the current financial year.

Sofi reviews situation at Kupwara.

The Forest minister, Gh. Mohidin Sofi reviewed the post snowfall situation and availability of essentials in  Kupwara district, at an officers meeting.  Giving a resume of arrangements made by the district Development Commissioner, Kupwara said that all main roads have been cleared for traffic while snow clearance operation is in full swing on link roads. Water Tankers have been pressed into service, to provide potable water in areas where water supply has been affected due to snowfall. He said 42707 qtls. of Rice, 6606 qtls. of Atta & 949 qtl. Sugar are available at various sale outlets to meet the requirement of the people. Ten thousand litres of Kerosene have also been stocked for distribution among people.

Major routes open for traffic in Kupwara

With the snow clearance operations almost completed, the main routes in Kupwara district have been reopened for traffic. The roads cleared include Kupwara -Chowkibal, Kralporea- Kupwara, Sogam - Lolab & Manzgam- Villgam.   This was stated in an officers meeting convened by Deputy Comm. A M. Khandy to assess the post snowfall situation and the progress achieved in the snow clearance operations in the district here today.  The meeting was informed that snow clearance from link roads is in full swing with thousands of labourers engaged on the job. All the link routes are expected to be through for traffic by today evening.

Rs.7.50Lakh man days generated in Kupwara

Under Centrally sponsored SGRY and Prime Ministers special Employment Programme, an amount of Rs.12.14crore is being utilized during the current fiscal year in Kupwara district of this,Rs.Nine crore stand utilised on execution of 1257 development works up to ending January this year,generating 7.20 lakh mandays.

This was stated in an officer’s meet chaired by District Dev.Commissioner. Abdul Majid Khandy here  today.   Giving details, the District Dev. Commissioner said that under SGSY 745 development works with an expenditure of Rs.3 crores while as under PMs special Employment Programme,512 such works have been completed in the district so for. Under District Plan, Rs. 1.82 Crores are being spent on the said works.
