Krishi Vigyan Kendra  (KVK) Kupwara


Assessment, refinement and demonstration of technology/products through a network of 589 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) is one of the major activities of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Every district of the country is having a KVK for this purpose and a senior level   Scientist designated as Programme Coordinator, working in PB-4, heads the KVK with six scientists (PB-3) assisting him besides other supporting staff. KVs in each state are receiving all type of support from State Agricultural Universities or ICAR institutes and NGO’s working in those states.


KVK Kupwara  was established  in the year 2005 and has following mandates within the Kupwara district:


1.  Conducting “On-Farm Testing” (OFT) for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use systems.

2.  Organizing  training  to  update  the  extension  personnel  with  emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.

3.  Organizing short and long term training courses in agriculture and allied disciplines for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on “Learning by doing” for higher production on farms and generating self-employment.

4.  Organizing Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on various crops to generate production data and feed back information.
